Hugo Guillamón: “We have to be at 100% to get the three points against Cádiz CF”
Hugo Guillamón is becoming an important piece in José Bordalás' plans this season. The VCF Academy product has settled into the starting eleven, changing his position to help the team and assuming new responsibilities. In an interview with VCF MEDIA, Guillamón talks about his feelings so far this season, and gives a closer look at the next game against Cádiz CF.
Going back to winning ways
It's the last game before the international break and we will go there motivated to get three points. It's an important game for going into the break feeling calm. We had a week in which we had a midweek match, in which we struggled to get results. We're motivated to get back to winning ways, which is important for us.
Be 100% ready
Both those who start and those who come on have to give it 100%, because if not then it's proven that it isn't enough to win. It's hard to win. They are a good side, even though they haven't started the season in the best way. They are a dangerous side and we have to be at 100% to get the three points. I think that the team are doing well. We're very united and want to have a good year. I think that is important.
Draw against Athletic Club
At home our fans help us a lot. We fight to the end. Getting that draw -even though we wanted the win- deserves credit, because of the way that the game went and the circumstances we had. We'll go to Cadiz looking to fight for the three points.
Change of position
From day one, the coach has said that I could play in a new position. He gave me confidence and I feel better all the time. I still have a lot to improve and to learn, but with hard work and desire in every training session I can get better.
Bordalás' demands
He's made it clear from the start that we all have to work hard to play on his team. I think that the entire team are prepared to make an effort to help, because it's down to us in the end. How we do in the season will reflect the way that we work on a daily basis. We are well aware that, working together, we will have a good year.
Made in Academia VCF
It's tremendously exciting to be in the first team and train with these great players, when you've come up through the ranks from a young age. You've been watching games at Mestalla from the stands, and dreamt of playing alongside these players one day. I try to be an example to kids. It might seem like the first team is far away, but one day they could get there. I encourage them to keep going, because it's really nice.
